Flingers has been a Bloomington staple since 2003, and while those early years downtown were full of great memories, that spot was challenging for dine-in and delivery in particular. Our move to Vernon Ave in 2015 kicked off a new era. The building was larger, had its own parking lot, and was centrally located near Veterans without being on a service road. It even already had a pickup window. It was pretty much perfect. After several months of renovation, Flingers reopened on Sept 23, 2015, and somehow, we blinked and it’s been 10 years. Time flies when you’re flingin’ dough.
Over that time, you’ve guided us to an unprecedented decade of dominance for a single-location local pizza place. As of this week’s Readers’ Choice Awards announcement, you’ve now voted us Best Overall Restaurant 6 years in a row, Best Bar 9 years in a row, Best Pizza 8 years, Best Salads 3 years in a row, and Best Wings 3 years.
You’ve supported us with your referrals, reviews, and recommendations. You’ve sported our merch and glassware. You’ve embraced ideas like our baseball card Beer Menu, Monthly Fling, Project Pie, and Free Pizza Friday. A couple of you have even tattoo’d our logo onto your body. We’re humbled and honored that you choose Flingers for your parties, date nights, happy hours, and hangouts, and from regulars to first-timers, our larger, centralized Vernon Ave home has given us the opportunity to meet and serve even more of you. It’s been, and continues to be, a blast.
